Angels sought to rebuild their reputation after the slandering the Ophirs gave them after they helped to repent King Thirst. It seemed like they were going to get swallowed up by the media, all hope lost, until they gained an opportunity out in Europe. Upon learning that Europe had strong ghosts, Angels made haste to start gaining the public's trust back in them. That European Angels could put in a good word for them back home.
Once Angels departed along with Sir Strappon, the city was left without its usual protectors and the job then fell to Lethocs personnel. The organization saw a rise in their ghost hunting activities and the way they dealt with cases, the city then entrusted Lethocs to take care of just about anything. Their involvement went as far as Lethocs integrating the DCPD into its rankings.
However Angels soon came back home from their European escapades. Their activities made them struggle and it didn't help that Angels came under fire after a sudden spike of murders and kidnapping. Something about one particular Angel being the culprit. The DCPD pointed their finger at Jacket and wanted to throw him in the slammer as fast as possible, but those who knew Jacket saw that things weren't adding up. Sure, the kid can get violent but not result to any of this. To ensure Jacket's safety Hot Pants, a Lethocs captain, threw the kid into quarantine at the off-shore base. While Jacket was in containment, Hot Pants, along with the Lethocs Commander and other captains, began perusing through hours of footage that included Jacket's likeness. It went on like that for a few weeks.
Many, along with the Commander, spent sleepless nights reviewing footage to the point they could tell who was Jacket and who was using his image to stir up controversy. They were getting close and a spy was keeping close tabs on their progress. It was time for them to strike.
"We interrupt this programming to bring you an urgent announcement."
"Reporter Bombon here to report that Daten's beach is currently off limits to visitors and businesses are forced to close early in the wake of an off-shore oil rig having exploded. This isn't just any ordinary rig, it was a repurposed rig used for Lethocs personnel stationed here in Daten. Survivors are being transported constantly from the rig and back to shore. Details as to what happened are sparse on our end so we'll take it to one of our reporters on the scene at the Romero & Carpen Outpost where those in critical conditioned are being transported to."
"Thank you Mr. Bombon! I'm reporter Q. Holly here with Lethocs Captain, Hot Pants, one of the survivors. Tell me, Captain, any word as to the whereabouts of your commander or even numbers concerning the death toll or missing?"
"Uh, well... There hasn't been any word on our Commander. So far he's listed as MIA. Neither his body nor the crew that was seeing after him have been found. They have yet to respond to our attempts at contact. Our current toll for dead or missing is unclear. We're expecting it to be in the 100s, but until we start cleaning up, it's uncertain for now."
"You mention a crew, what exactly happened?"
"I wasn't there myself but apparently, before the explosions, the Commander had been shot. Nobody that was with him at the moment took out a weapon, so we suspect a sniper."
"Right. So then, Captain, what's your plan of action for the current situation?"
"We're going to collect our survivors and settle them here in the outpost. Of course, we're going to focus on those in critical condition. I, along with the rest of the Captains, will be assuming leadership positions until we can relocate our Commander whether he's alive or dead. We've gotten confirmation of the Director preparing a speech with the coming days, but that's in France."
"Thank you reporter Q. Holly. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. We'll bring any new details and interviews with the survivors in our 5 o'clock showing."
